Would anyone who has received their GT/LF comp DVD's from me care to comment on them for the benefit of those who might be trying to decide if they want them? Also, given that we have/are such music geeks on this list, I was wondering if anyone here has ever planned/tried/succeeded in listening to their entire CD collection in alphabetical order. I cannot speak of DVD reviews (I want 'em, haven't had time to send away for 'em... and what in the wide world of sports do you need ten box tops for anyway? And where the hell can I even FIND Like A Girl Jesus cereal?), but -- Indeed, many years ago, when my CD collection was far smaller than it is now (say 500 or so), I made a New Year's resolution to listen to every single one, all the way through, in alphabetical order. Fortunately, I have always been able to listen to music at work, so it only took me about five months. Today, it would take way longer - and if you throw in digital files, well, just bury me with 'em and I'll find the time in the afterlife. And you? Don't be a long-player hater, West. I've contented myself at times with pulling "questionable" CDs and listening to those almost in order, to decide what to get rid of, but passing by what I knew I wanted to keep. I did that once in the ninth grade, but it was a far more manageable job then, and frankly, I was living in Russell, Kansas at the time. There weren't many other entertainment options pressing on my time. I do keep my "to be listened" pile in scrupulously alphabetical order: it keeps me from having to decide what to listen to first. Listening to my entire CD collection (at this moment) would take (according to my database) 4,635 hours, or 193 days and 3 hours. That's listening 24 hours a day. And we probably should allow a few cumulated hours for changing discs (because one must be practical when positing listening to CDs 24 hours a day for more than half a year). So, uh, no - I haven't done that. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2006 02:32:01 -0500 From: Jenny Grover Subject: Re: [loud-fans] comp reviews, anyone? 2fs wrote: >(because one must be practical when positing listening to CDs 24 hours >a day for more than half a year). > >So, uh, no - I haven't done that. > > > No one said you had to listen 24 hours a day!
