It's all a matter of taste.  Perhaps I should've said Dixie  Chicks?  I only 
own one Smashing Pumpkins record, and that's a CD single of  "1979."  But, 
when push comes to shove, I'd rather hear William Shatner  sing than Stevie 
Nicks.  I think I've figured out the difference between  Carlisle and Nicks.  
Belinda Carlisle sounds like a sex kitten.  Nicks  sounds like an alley cat in heat.
 
As karmic payment, yesterday on the way into my evening job (yes, I still  do 
evening delivery, along with subbing in the mornings, providing it's a  
half-day subbing gig on days I work nights, like later this morning) this guy  
(with one of the longest ponytails I've ever seen) who works at the  convenience 
store where I get my evening coffee on the way to work gave me a  CD-R.  He 
seems to like me as I have been able to talk with him in  depth about Depeche 
Mode and Soft Cell.  Anyway, he wanted me to have  this disc, which he labeled 
"Electro."  I put it in my car stereo on the  way out of the store's parking 
lot, and the first track sounded familiar as far  as the arrangement, and then I 
hear it.  It's a techno version of "Dreams,"  complete with Stevie Nicks on 
vocals.
 
What does this eerie happening mean?  When the rain washes me clean,  I'll 
know.

You know, this reminds me of one of my lyrical peeves (or perhaps, phrasing
peeves): when singers force accents to accommodate a pre-existing metrical
pattern, rather than altering their phrasing to accommodate the way words
are pronounced (or come up with a lyric that scans). In what dialect of
English is there such a word as "waSHIZ"? Oh wait - maybe Stevie Nicks was
way ahead of Snoop Dogg...

For a long time I thought Stevie was singing "When The Rainbow shares his
dreams you'll know."  Doesn't make any logical sense but I thought maybe she
was going after some sort of poetic touch here?  Pissed me off when I found
out the real lyric...
