I used a back door trick to turn on 30-second skip-forward on the remote. I can't stand commercials either (maybe another reason why I liked the World Cup's format). I do occasional disks to play for the kids while I'm driving my wife's van; my kids are bombarded by Disney Channel pop (mostly at my wife's behest) so when I can do some quality control, it's spotty. I do have some nice footage of my older daughter dancing to The Saving Graces' cover of "Talking to Myself" on the Let's Active tribute album. My younger daughter was singing the "Hey, ho, let's go" from the Ramones' Blitzkrieg Bop for a while after I'd play it. There is still hope...for me to get my kids to listen to controlled screaming like 50 Foot Wave... - -- Francis J. H. Just a few days now until I leave for the UK and the Mediterranean and I wanted to give you the details of my London and Malta performances. It's pretty barebones but there are 3 more tunes from Angels' Abacus up for grabs there at the moment. http://www.myspace.com/emilybezar Thanks for spreading the word and I'll be in touch later in the summer!! best, Emily - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- if you'd like to be removed from this list, please reply with REMOVE ME in the subject line ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 11:01:26 -0700 (PDT) From: zoom@muppetlabs.com Subject: [loud-fans] Upcoming CDs? I'm stumbling through re-integrating myself into freelance writing, and I'm wondering if the list in its wisdom can steer me to a good online source or sources for upcoming CD releases--preferably all genres, original releases and reissues both. I used to use a certain online magazine for this, and I'm ashamed to say I've completely forgotten its name. Offlist is fine if you prefer, though the onlist community might benefit. She needs to follow Judy Blume in making a token adult effort. Fortunately, most adult rock is perfectly moronic enough to appeal to any toddler. HEAVEN TONIGHT must be the best album of all time, because I hear the first six songs at least three times a day and I'm not sick of it yet, either. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 16:12:35 -0400 (EDT) From: Aaron Mandel Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Upcoming CDs? I, too, would be curious if anyone has a good source of lists of new releases. aaron / help@eecs ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 15:37:46 -0500 From: Wes_Vokes@eFunds.Com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Upcoming CDs? allmusic.com has a pretty comprehensive (Maybe too comprehensive) list...... Allmusic.com has a new release page that is pretty exhaustive. You can sign up for a new release newsletter which they edit, highlighting the most significant releases. It is sent every Tuesday and is pretty good. The store is at < http://wrens.bigcartel.com/>. Sorry to those of you who might have just paid hundreds of dollars on eBay for original versions: that's okay, hang on to these and in ten years maybe they'll be worth hundreds of dollars. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2006 22:17:50 -0400 From: Michael Zwirn Subject: [loud-fans] Podcasted Coverville , the very popular all-covers podcast from Brian Ibbott, features WIIW's "I Think I See the Light". Amazing response since I told Sue to send him an MP3 just a couple of days ago! He's a big power pop fan. Fans of Self or TMBG will want to hear a sample of the TMBG tribute album as well, for Self's version of "Ana Ng." And in unrelated WIIW news, Amazon.com now has WIIW and so does lala.com in their database. The difference is, lala.com's version spells Anton's last name correctly.
