The fact >that the same rhythm section was employed (except for >he bonus tracks),ties it all together. I think it' makes sense that the two ending tracks are categorized as "bonus tracks" because they sound somehow different than the rest of the album. Larry Tagg's bass playing doesn't sound as "LF-like" as Kenny's, but it does provide Scott with just one degree of separation from Todd Rundgren. I think "Don't Bother Me While I'm Living Forever" is definitely a top-shelf Scott song though. >I'm also surprised to see that Anton is quite >accomplished as a keyboard player. He plays all sorts >of keys (organ, Farfisa, Hammond, Wurlitzer and a >multitude of synths.),throughout. Anton is an amazing keyboard player. He's not nearly as accomplished as Scott in the lyrical/songwriting dept (who is, really?) but he is more of a "musical genius" in the Jon Brion sense, which I think adds a lot to both his and Scott's songs on this album. >I've mentioned this earlier, but the glue that hold >all of this together is the reuniting of what I think >is the definitive Loud Family rhythm section - Joe and >Kenny. The muscle is back and they both sound great. I think another older Scott song that would have fit really well in these sessions is "Chicago and Miss Jovan's Land-O-Mat" (which may be the precursor to "Mavis of Maybelline Towers"). That song also featured the Joe/Kenny Interbabe rhythm section, and if they could rescue "Total Mass Destruction" from the dustbin of obscurity, that sound would be the next likely candidate in my world. - -Steve ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V6 #115 *******************************
