I really like a lot of the songs, much more than I expected to, because I tended to like Stringfellow's songs better in the Posies. But the drums (sonically) sound just awful -- right now "My Sweet Unknown" is making me cringe, but they sound horrible throughout. If anyone has the real CD I'd be curious if you think that's just how it's mixed/mastered or if it's an artifact of the MP3 compression. I know I spent years whinging about the (lack of) audio quality in 128K MP3s, but generally I find eMusic's VBR MP3's quite listenable. This album seems an order of magnitude worse than what I've gotten used to. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Jun 2006 16:01:36 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: Re: [loud-fans] new Jon Auer On 6/2/06, don't mine me wrote: > > > I know I spent years whinging about the (lack of) audio quality in 128K > MP3s, but generally I find eMusic's VBR MP3's quite listenable. Ironically, when I first listened to 128K mp3s, I often couldn't hear any problem. Evidently my ears became acclimated - because now, those low-res mp3s sound like crap to me, usually. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V6 #106 *******************************
