Well, it might be a good track (haven't heard it yet) but since that's one of my favorite Magnetic Fields tracks, "improve on it" seems doubtful... > > Broadcast > > Broadcast are back with a new album Tender Buttons to be released > > on 19th September. So how many Gertrude Stein-themed album/song titles are out there by now? - -- ...Jeff The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 22:12:33 -0700 (PDT) From: Sarah Gordon Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Various upcomings... > > > !!! > > > > > > The double A side single Take Ecstasy With Me/Get Up is out on July > > > 25th, with an eyecatching sleeve that is worth a peek. Aftering hearing it once while driving home late at night a couple days ago, I wasn't impressed. It is also one of my favorite MF tracks, and I didn't think the cover really added anything. The lines that had so much impact for me in the original didn't have the same impact in the cover. But that's after only one listen when I was a bit tired. Would be curious to hear someone else's take, especially if they thought it did improve on the original. In other music news, adding to the list of records from 2005 that I'm enjoying, I'll toss out Say Hi To Your Mom's record "Ferocious Mopes". Not flawless, but I've been enjoying listening to it quite a bit. I like his voice a lot. The record has a very intimate quality that I find appealing. It's a record that I'm tempted to play again after listening to it once, which doesn't happen often. It's on emusic for those who are still subscribers. http://sayhitoyourmom.com/ - -Sarah ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 22:43:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Sarah Gordon Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Various upcomings... > Aftering hearing it once while driving home late at night a couple days Silly typos, sorry. Usually I am better about proofreading. To give this post musical relevance, here is a link to the local bay area band Readyville, whose sound is very raw and strangely appealing. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I find it compelling. There's a good KALX performance for download plus an EP at the link below. I have a special fondess for track 4, "An El Camino Is A Car". http://www.one2one3.com/readyville/ They are putting out their debut album in August, which I'm curious to check out. - -Sarah ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V5 #175 *******************************
