Brian is by far my favorite, and I will agree that the music has been incredibly eclectic. During the season where Justin is living with Daphne and going to college, the music was at it's peak, with lots of obscure folky stuff. I never noticed the Aimee Mann/Lindsay resemblence, however I did notice the Debbie/Divine resemblence. Thanks for the mention of QAF, Mark - I think this is the first time I actually felt I could have input in this forum. :) A. ----- Original Message ----- From: A52boy@aol.com To: loud-fans@smoe.org Sent: Monday, May 30, 2005 12:07 PM Subject: [loud-fans] QAF lookalikes My ex-boss is a devoted QUEER AS FOLK follower, and she's had me over to watch season 4 and now season 5 every week (I've no cable), and, though I find the show riddled with cliches, sexually unrealistic and too brassy at times (it could make "Caligula blush"), I've found myself getting into it like I did with GENERAL HOSPITAL in high school. To the show's credit, they have some excellent music on there every now and again (I heard an excellent version of Haircut 100's "Fantastic Day" last season). What amuses me is how much my fave character, Lindsay, looks almost exactly like Aimee Mann. My second favorite character, Ted, looks eerily like Stephin Merritt. I certainly can't be the only one who has noticed the similarity. The character of Brian has to have some of the best comedic lines on television at the moment. --Mark ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 May 2005 21:20:51 EDT From: A52boy@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] QAF lookalikes In a message dated 5/31/05 3:57:56 PM Eastern Daylight Time, punkrok@gmail.com writes: Brian is by far my favorite I like Brian. He is like a non-Southern version of my best friend growing up (who sadly died from AIDS). I think maybe the similarity in his character to my best friend makes me a little uncomfortable. But, Brian has the greatest lines. The other week, when Ben and Michael were thinking of moving from their Liberty Avenue apartment into a historic neighborhood where lots of gay couples lived, Brian frowning on the idea and saying they were going to become "Stepford fags" made me laugh hysterically. And, in the current episode, when Brian had the offer to sell ailing Babylon to some developers who were going to put in a Starbucks or some such shite, Brian, not wanting to ruin Liberty Avenue's integrity, staunchly refused the offer, and promptly ordered an "extra tall vodka latte" from his bartender. I never noticed the Aimee Mann/Lindsay resemblence, however I did notice the Debbie/Divine resemblence. Oh Lord, YES!! You're right! Thanks for posting. It's so quiet, I can hear my heat sink fan.... - --Mark np The Essex Green s/t e.p. in the car at the moment ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V5 #137 *******************************
