Let's also say that I have always found the former mildly annoying and have never had any strong feelings one way or the other toward the latter. Do I still need to hear/own ENTERTAINMENT! (namely, the Rhino reissue of it that is released on Tuesday), seeing as how it's an classic and important album and all, or do these songs (not from this album, I realize) pretty much dictate what I'll end up thinking of the band overall? Jer np: all three Rilo Kiley albums, plus the two "Portions For Foxes" singles, in preparation for seeing them on Wednesday. http://www.Care2.com Free e-mail. 100MB storage. Helps charities. It's one of my fave albums of all time. While the songs you mention are representative, they don't tell the whole story. "Entertainment" doesn't tell the whole story either, but it's probably regarded as their best. I think you should at least hear it, because both those songs are from the band's later period, when they were shading much closer towards mainstream dance music and therefore sounded much more "normal" than their earliest work. Songs like "At Home He's A Tourist," "Not Great Men" and (especially) "Anthrax" are pretty much the essence of Gang of Four, and while there's every chance that you'll hate this record (which is why I said "hear" and not "buy") based on your opinion of the later singles, I don't believe those singles are entirely representative of the whole Go4 experience.
