I have my RSS reader subscribed to the iTMS new releases feed, and saw this listed, and some combination of artist/album name and cover art tweaked my curiosity so I followed the link: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum? playlistId=45458958 The snippets put me in a shoegazing state of mind (never a bad thing), so I did a little more digging and ended up here: http://www.nme.com/reviews/11859.htm I started looking for the disc at my local shops, only to find out it isn't due to be released in the USA until June 21, so I cashed in some bottle caps (really) and got it at the iTunes store. It's not perfect (when they falter they can remind one of, erm, Coldplay), but when it hits on all cylinders (e.g. the single 'Forgiveness', with the disclaimer that I don't generally pay attention to lyrics, is my favorite song of 2005 -- it taps directly into everything that was right about Slowdive and the very first Verve record) it really does channel everything that was great about shoegazing. -d.w. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V5 #73 ******************************
