American rights to Miyazaki and that his last few films to come out here (I think) did well financially, won't a wider release be in order? I know, I know, shows you what I know about the movie *business*, Andy "Hayao Miyazaki [sic] has often been compared to Walt Disney, but neither this nor the fact that Disney owns American rights to most of Miyazaki's work makes this comparison remotely apt. Miyazaki is a great, not merely successful artist and MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO a truly masterful film that can sustain frequent viewings, a far more serious accomplishment, than, say, BAMBI or SNOW WHITE." - --Peter Carey, from WRONG ABOUT JAPAN ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2005 20:09:31 -0800 From: "Bradley Skaught" Subject: [loud-fans] I'll Take It Big thumbs up for the new Wedding Present album, _Take Fountain_! It's = kind of a moody, dark affair this time, but all the things that are = great about David Gedge are in evidence. And it's one of the most = beautifully recorded albums i've heard in ages! Another new favorite of mine is Cass McCombs' _PREfection_, which = captures the spirit of the first Smiths, _Murmur_, and even mid-period = Cure mixed with songwriting that recalls the romantic lyricism of the = Go-Betweens or The Kinks. A very odd but exciting album. love, B stray songs: www.davidbowie.com/users/bjskaught/index.html No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
