I know that nobody cares but me, but, for the sake of accuracy, I must put Stephen Duffy's album at number 8 and The Finn Brothers at 9. I look at top 10 lists like someone is saying to me, "Okay, you may choose one album of the year, and that's it." "Okay, you may choose 2," and so on. I would choose the Duffy lp before the Finns. - --Mark, promising more cock rock artists on my lists in the years to come...taking hormonal supplements, and I just bought a pack of Bic lighters for shows np The Gentle Waves SWANSONG FOR YOU ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Jan 2005 13:25:47 -0800 From: "Bradley Skaught" Subject: [loud-fans] The Top 40 A great year for music--even the albums down in the lower reaches of my list were really great. I got an mp3 player this year, which helped a lot with getting new albums into heavy rotation and keeping 8 or 10 of them there for enough time to really absorb them. 1. There had been some commentary on 'The Incredibles' on the list earlier, but I never got around to throwing my two cents in. I liked it, but the way that Disney pitches it towards kids bothered me. As the parent of two toddler girls (4 and 2.5), they liked some of the action in the movie (and sat through the entire film without issue), but there were certain thematic elements (machine guns in jungles, missiles fired at jets, dude getting FODed in jet engine) that I thought were a little heavy-handed in the movie. I liked its take on American society (and carting 'The Iron Giant' out this morning was another Brad Bird reminder), and liked the movie (enough to get it when it releases on disk), but don't envision showing it to my kids again until they get a few years older. Just bought Eternal Sunshine on disk, never got around to seeing it on the big screen. Looking forward to it. - -- Francis J. H.
