Michael was born in Decatur, GA, and yes, he was an army brat. They moved around some, but were back in GA in the 70's. Mike Mills was born in Orange County, CA, but grew up in GA. Bill was born in Duluth, but his family moved to GA in the 70's. Peter actually went to Emory, not UGA, and had dropped out by the time he met Michael. He worked at Wuxtry in Atlanta and transferred to the Athens branch and lived with his brother, who went to UGA. Mike and Bill met in high school in Macon and didn't like each other at first, but ended up sharing an apt. and playing in a covers band together. Or so I done read. It sure sounds like that to me, but a friend said he'd once seen that on a "mishead lyrics" list. If I misheard it, what is it?? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Dec 2004 14:56:37 -0500 From: Cardinal007 Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Cheap Trick lyric inquiry Although Sharples has spent a bit more time with Rick than I have, and we've both drunkenly sung with Robin in deep rural areas, I fear he can - -- at best -- offer only a guess. I know he forgot to ask any of them the lyric to "He's a Whore." So your guess remains the best guess possible -- until some clever lister offers and even more attractive alternative. I urge you to seek out Big Black's cover -- Albini revfeals the lyric better than Sharples or I ever could .... Speaking of Sharples, I urge everyone on the list to buy his solo album. I think it's available from 125 records, and certainly from johnsharples.com I haven't posted before, because (1) my persona on this list is rather icky, so who cares to listen to me?; and (2) I worked on his record a bit. So I'm not objective. But it seems to me a glorious celebration of pop music, and maybe even a glorious celebration of this list. It has fantastic songs by Bradley Skaught, Paula Carino, and Grahame "I Love NASCAR" Davies. By "fantastic" I mean three killer songs, lovingly offered. The other songs are classic "power pop," with driving guitars and pounding bass and drums. Execpt for the pedal steel and acoustic numbers, including a Nesmith classic. I wouldn't normally shill for sharples, except he's in intensive care, and his costs are all paid by proceeds from this fine record album lp CD. He can't stop lurking until the transplant .... I've seen it written as "she's a tease like a social disease," But I really, really don't think that's right. The tea/teeth thing doesn't quite sound right either, but closer to my ears.
