I don't want to post any lists until I pick up a few more important looking, promising 2004 releases. For now, though, my 1 and 2 are Ambulance, LTD and Mark Lanegan "Bubblegum" respectively, and it would take something huge to knock them down. I tried, but I caught two really miserable colds this month so the window of time to work on the album was pretty small. I actually did as well as I could and have a half hour of stuff recorded, but it's more like the rough demos for an album than an actual album. I liked forcing myself to finish half-written scraps, though, and I will probably flesh some of them out later on for public consumption. I'll wait 'til post christmas before coming up with a big list, but I know for sure that Morrissey is number one and number is almost certainly the Trashcan Sinatras. B ATTN: Bay Area folks If you haven't already, check out the new AM 1510 oldies station--absolutely fantastic. I've got a bunch of friends and co-workers addicted to it already. It's exactly what you'd want an oldies station to be--lots of stuff you never hear on regular oldies station, no DJs and it only covers the 50's and 60's. - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. It would take something akin to a Christmas miracle to budge Nellie McKay's GET AWAY FROM ME from the top spot, but things are much more fluid after that. Dungen's TA DET LUGNT, Chris Stamey's TRAVELS IN THE SOUTH, Devotchka's HOW IT ENDS, Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT, S's PUKING AND CRYING and the debuts by the Dresden Dolls and Dogs Die In Hot Cars all come to mind immediately. > ATTN: Bay Area folks > If you haven't already, check out the new AM 1510 oldies > station--absolutely > fantastic. I've always thought that if I was given a radio station to run free and clear, a small AM oldies station would be the way to go: the ratings would always be so minimal that no one would want to go in and screw everything up. And I'd set it up so that it ran in real time. Like if it went on the air on January 1, 2005, the playlist could only consist of things that were released before 1/1/1955, and then after a week, anything released the first week of January 1955 was okay, and so on. It would just be interesting to trace the development. S ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V4 #323 *******************************
