I'm trying to figure out who originally performed one of the songs on the His Name Is Alive covers album that the band's website is now selling mp3s of. It's called "Man In Love" (though Warn DeFever likes changing titles) and begins "Like a man in love, I'm sitting around / Tryin' to figure out why you let me down" and the chorus is "there's no more glow in the moon above to shine down on a man in love". Morrissey is set to form the inspiration for a new theatre show, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others. Producers want to use around 22 songs by The Smiths, and are in discussions with Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr. But they say it will be nothing like the raft of musicals inspired by bands like Abba (Mamma Mia) and Queen (We Will Rock You). They insist the show will not be about The Smiths or its former frontman and say Morrissey and Marr are happy with the idea. The songs used will be arranged for a string quartet and sung by a cast of six. Producers say the show will have no linear story and is not a musical. Details are expected to be finalised in the next few weeks. Named after the Morrissey lyric, the producers hope to put on Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others at the Lyric Hammersmith next June. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 14:21:37 -0500 (EST) From: Aaron Mandel Subject: Re: [loud-fans] song ID? Help! Request cancelled; it is Charlie Feathers. If there's anyone out there who misses the old HNIA, this record is not bad, though part of me still rebels at paying $10 for mp3s and having to print out my own art if I want something to put on the shelf. It's centered around Karin Oliver's voice with mild accompaniment; I suspect it's one of those covers albums I would hate if I knew the originals, but I don't... a ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 11:35:04 -0800 From: Michael Zwirn Subject: [loud-fans] SF Bay Nov. 19-21 I am going to be in the Bay Area between the 19th and 21st for some interviews and would be happy to get together for something musical.
