I bought a newer version of a Zombies collection the other day, an SACD 
hybrid on the Audio Fidelity label.  I only have one other SACD like this, the 
Stone's HIGH TIDE AND GREEN GRASS, that I got a couple of years ago.  The sound 
quality (in the regular CD format) is superb by the way...way better than the 
Zombies collection I had on the Castle Communications label from the '80s.  What 
is happening with this format?  Is it not taking off?  I've only seen it 
offered in the recent Dylan reissues and other Stones reissues.  I've heard that, 
if you have the audio equipment, this format has incredible sound.  I'm just 
wondering if it is going by the way of quadratrack, Beta, and DAT.  Anybody up 
on this/have the components?  Would you buy an SACD player again?

Jen, forget the ipod.  All you need is a Close-n-Play and some leaky silver 
Eveready batteries.

Actually, I still have my childhood portable, which is not a 
Close-n-Play, but nicer (my folks wouldn't get me a CnP because they 
wanted me to have a better quality one), and which runs on AC as well as 
D cells.  The reason I still have it is because it's the only turntable 
I have that will play my 78's.  And, no, that's not a joke.  I really do 
have a bunch of 78's and expect to inherit more.
