"The Environment Agency has revealed that Prozac is building up both in river systems and groundwater used for drinking supplies," the newspaper said. "The government's chief environment watchdog recently held a series of meetings with the pharmaceutical industry to discuss any repercussions for human health or the ecosystem." It said that the drug finds its way into the water supply from treated sewage water. However, the government's Drinking Water Inspectorate said Prozac was likely to be found in such a "watered down" form that it was unlikely to pose a health risk, The Observer said. According to the newspaper, in the decade up to 2001, "overall prescriptions of anti-depressants rose from nine million to 24 million a year". The > AFOOT cover art was done by Faye not many years before the album, > whereas the CYPRESS cover was from a very young Mitch. If there was confusion as to what art was being discussed, I missed it and am sorry if this was unclear to anyone. I understood the drawing that was being discussed as it was referred to as the "drawing" and that the discussion was specifically on the "Art As It Happens" picture. I thought this was clear to the list, though I realize that many on the list don't have the vinyl. The cover paintings are credited on the sleeves, Afoot is, of course, Faye; Cypress is by Mitch. If you speak to Faye again, give her my email. > Right Dan, I think Lynn dated Westerberg for a while. Lynn was/is real cool, I thought see made a nice addition to the band when she was playing with them. I had the Holiday EP, but it didn't make much of an impression. That said, Faye's solo track ("Blinded") on the The Water Music Compilation LP is pretty stunning. She' backed by Gene Holder, Will Rigby & Jeff Beninato of The dB's, Mary Mac from Chris Stamey's band, Janet Wygal and Amy Rigby. It promised of an amazing solo career that sadly never materialized. Last thing I saw Faye on was the NY Eye & Ear Control on Matador playing with (I think) Rick Brown's pre Run On band Timber. Regarding transfering sound on a CD copier, I overheard a friend from Emusic saying there was loss and there was work being done to eliminate it, but I can't pretend to imagine the science of it. If you get better sound on a copy, it's because the software is boosting the bass & or treble and likely the volume. There is, of course, no way to pull something on to the copy that isn't on the original CD. - - Dan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2004 19:40:27 -0400 (EDT) From: dmw Subject: [loud-fans] mac x/itunes 4 help? I know we have a few Ituns/Mac users here ... and we have a heap of smart folks ... so here goes. I've been looking on the Web, but I haven't found anybody else who had a symptom like this. I think itunes was behaving normally when I started this procedure. (although it's possible I suppose that the disaster happened earlier) I was trying to download a few mp3s from a Web location to add them to the itunes library. I tried dragging items from a web index to the desktop, then into the libary, but that basically made a shortcut to the internet location, which was not what I wanted. After trying and failing to stop Safari from automatically opening the mp3s, I wound up using Fugu SFTP to download the mp3s to the desktop. Then I dragged them from the desktop into the library (same way I do when importing tracks from a cd) I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but after importing the 3rd track, I noticed that ONLY the newly imported tracks appeared in the library -- everything else was GONE. there was no warning dialog at any point. after I noticed the problem, the user/username/music/itunes folder was in the expected location, but contained only 3 tracks and a very small xml file. Nothing unexpected was in the trash. I think the volume of free space on the hard drive suggests that the files are still allocated, but I'll be hornswoggled if I can see where they ARE. Anybody heard of anything like this? Any help would be very very much appreciated. The very worst thing is ... it's NOT my Mac. - -- redfaced boy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2004 21:57:06 EDT From: JRT456@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Let's In a message dated 8/17/04 6:54:15 PM, vallor@comcast.net writes, re: the news that "Faye...confirmed what JRT says..." > If there was confusion as to what art was being discussed, I missed it and > am sorry if this was unclear to anyone. > I'd been thinking about noting that I couldn't be too excited to have Faye confirm my statements on artwork that wasn't even in question. Nice of someone to ask, though. The Tres Chicas album doesn't seem to be getting much attention, but it's a really lovely album that offers more than just another batch of lovely Americana harmonizing. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V4 #225 *******************************
