On a similar note, I got a "25 free mp3s if you give us a second chance!" mail from emusic last week and have been thinking about trying it. Anyone have any super-hot recommendations from the past few months? Could be. I've got no problems right now with Netscape 6. Speaking of eMusic, I'm currently listening to YOUNG LAWYER by the French Kicks, a six-song EP that's in the current vogue for post-punk revival. The guitarist has a thing for noisy staccato riffs and the singer sounds kind of like a less too-cool-for-school version of Julian Casablancas, but unlike a lot of the current crop of bands like this, they seem to have something of a Kinks-Who-Creation fetish -- reminds me a lot of mid-period Lilys, actually. No I didn't, But I'm still bummed that Vida Blue (the band) has nothing to do with Vida Blue (the ex-pitcher). - -Steve "Macha's influences include My Bloody Valentine, Martin Denny, Girls Against Boys, Legendary Pink Dots, Can, bright flashes from the Bad Seeds/Neubauten nexus, and MDMA-friendly, participatory vibe that recalls San Diego's guerrilla noise collective Crash Worship. However, its important to understand that, rather than simply combining these elements into a hybrid for hyphen-happy music critics to use as crutch, Macha owns it all.
