I can't claim pristine quality, but it works. Bright Orange Years is by far the best VS album. Possibly on my Top 20 of all time. One of those albums it just sounds like they had a blast making. Maybe with all the MoB interest lately, someone will reissue this on CD finally. Other VS albums: Things of Beauty is really sprawling and a bit inconsistent, but there is at least an albums worth of brilliant stuff on there. Definitely worth owning. All Night Lotus Party has some fun punky moments. Career in Rock isn't bad. I don't pull out Farced too often, and I never got Bumper Crop after reading some scathing reviews. Chris np: Consonant, Love and Affliction. I didn't instantly enjoy this like I did the s/t album, but its growing on me. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 May 2004 08:14:39 -0700 From: "Bradley Skaught" Subject: [loud-fans] just goes to show I was afraid I wasn't going to stumble acorss any more exciting tour dates to post! Luckily... Here are the dates for the upcoming Beulah shows. I still stand firmly behind this band and, especially, their latest album, Yoko, which I consider the artistically successful version of things like Kid A and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. And they're phenomenal live. 05.14.04 L.A.: El Rey Theater | [Buy Tickets] 05.15.04 San Diego: The Casbah 05.16.04 Phoenix, AZ: Old Brickhouse | [Buy Tickets] 05.19.04 Austin, TX: The Parish (Mercury) | [Buy Tickets] 05.20.04 Dallas, TX: Trees | [Buy Tickets] 05.21.04 Houston, TX: Fat Cat's 05.22.04 New Orleans, LA: The Parish | [Buy Tickets] 05.23.04 Birmingham, AL: Zydeco 05.25.04 Tampa, FL: The Orpheum 05.26.04 Orlando, FL: The Social | [Buy Tickets] 05.27.04 St. Augustine, FL: Cafe Eleven | [Buy Tickets] 05.28.04 Atlanta, GA: The Earl | [Buy Tickets] 05.29.04 Nashville, TN: 12th & Porter 05.31.04 Carrboro, NC: Cat's Cradle | [Buy Tickets] 06.01.04 D.C.: Black Cat | [Buy Tickets] 06.02.04 Philadelphia, PA: Northstar | [Buy Tickets] 06.03.04 Brooklyn, NY: North Six 06.04.04 NYC: Bowery Ballroom 06.05.04 Boston, MA: Middle East (down) | [Buy Tickets] 06.07.04 Pittsburgh, PA: The Rex Theater | [Buy Tickets] 06.08.04 Newport, KY (Cincy): Southgate House | [Buy Tickets] 06.09.04 Columbus, OH: Little Brother's | [Buy Tickets] 06.10.04 Detroit, MI: Magic Stick | [Buy Tickets] 06.11.04 Chicago, IL: The Abbey | [Buy Tickets] 06.12.04 Chicago, IL: The Abbey | [Buy Tickets] 06.13.04 Minneapolis, MN: 400 Bar 06.15.04 Denver, CO: Bluebird Theatre | [Buy Tickets] 06.26.04 San Francisco: The Fillmore - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I only have a very bad tape of it with the middle missing (had to turn the tape over), but I always liked it better than the album version. Anyone got it? I haven't played Bumper Crop in quite a while, which is possible testament to its quality, or lack thereof. I recall it being alright, but not as good as the previous two. I don't have any of the ones that came out after it. I lost touch with how to acquire their stuff after BC and just haven't gotten around to looking them up now. However, while AMG says this came out in March., I don't think it did (it's listed elsewhere as having a release date of Dec 31 2025!). This one's actually on Ryko and I've seen it in stores. I hadn't assessed the track listing, but looking at it now I think it's too short on Vs. & too big on Horrible Truth. As for the Taang albums, I bought the British leg of the Imago label's CD "Let There Be Burma" (also once available as a double LP), it includes both the Taang Records plus an extra track. It allows you to avoid giving money to that creepy Taang guy (the first Taang catalog I received made it abundantly clear that he was a distributor for white power punk). The Imago release is likely out of print though, sadly, so try to buy those Taang releases used. I also recently picked up the Atavistic Burma video, but I haven't watched it yet. - - Dan V ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V4 #127 *******************************
