Their services are reliable, their prices are good, their tech support is responsive, their billing is accurate. They can handle your domain registration, if you need that (www.pairnic.com). They're also very good about letting you upgrade or downgrade your account at any time, if you discover you need more bells or fewer whistles. Highly recommended! glenn ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 11:46:56 -0400 (EDT) From: Aaron Mandel Subject: Re: [loud-fans] GBV On Mon, 26 Apr 2004, Bradley Skaught wrote: > Yeah, I can understand that position. I feel like the current era of GBV started with Mag Earwhig, but the only record I like from this era (under my definition) is Do The Collapse, so your delineation means we disagree *as much as possible*... Pulled out DTC last night for the first time in a while, and I realized I had completely forgotten about "Hold On Hope". I think in retrospect it would have been pretty cool for that to become an "Everybody Hurts"-style hit. a ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 12:50:21 -0400 From: "Larry Tucker" Subject: RE: [loud-fans] GBV > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-loud-fans@smoe.org > [mailto:owner-loud-fans@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Bradley Skaught > Sent: Monday, April 26, 2004 1:08 PM > To: Loud Fans > Subject: [loud-fans] GBV > > > sad news: > > http://www.gbv.com/ > > B > A few weeks back I heard a strange rumor of a Bob Pollard collaboration with Tommy Keene. I feel like the current era of GBV started with >Mag Earwhig You're right--that's the first "non-classic" line up. I guess technically, though, Do The Collapse is the first line-up to resemble the current one (as opposed to "Pollard with Cobra Verde"), so that's probably a better starting point. DTC hasn't aged well for me, though--I liked it at the time, but feel like Isolation Drills was a more successful version of "polished GBV". So in my head the greatness starts with Isolation Drills. I do really love the "classic" stuff, too, though--especially Alien Lanes. I'm intrigued by the idea of Tommy Keene/Pollard collaboration. For the most part, i've really enjoyed Pollard collaboration-by-mail records, and that one sounds good to me. Keene was awesome on his opening slot for GBV last year.
