[zoom@muppetlabs.com] Re: [loud-fans] Believe in Love [Jeffrey with 2 Fs Jeffrey Subject: [loud-fans] Believe in true love Last night, Scott Miller made one of his rare live appearances at the True Love Coffeehouse in Gov. Arnold's hometown of Sacramento. Dressed in vintage ca-1978 Do It Up Gap threads, he played the following songs (the last three with Anton Barbeau). Vado Via (Drupi cover) We Love You, Carol and Alison Life On Mars (David Bowie cover) Cortex The Killer Total Mass Destruction Hyde Street Virgins Asleep And Awake On The Man's Freeway Motion of Ariel Inverness Just Gone Rocks Off (Rolling Stones cover) Don't Respond, She Can Tell The show was "sold-out", just like the last time Scott played at the True Love back in May, which isn't as impressive as it sounds (the capacity is about 40), but it's nice to know that Scott Miller still has drawing power in Sacramento. Hearing Scott and Anton playing a Stones cover made me think of one of my favorite moments on FROM RITUAL TO ROMANCE, when Scott yells "just like Mick and Keith!" to Anton at the Hotel Utah during "Don't Respond". It was only fitting that they followed "Rocks Off" with "Don't Respond". I was sitting up front, and Brianna gave me a wineglass and a couple of coins to drop at the appropriate moment, but I missed the cue(!), just like I used to do when I played the triangle in my grade school band. Anton Barbeau opened with a solo set of tunes, including a couple from his recently released cd GULADONG, and a few from KING OF MISSOURI, the other CD he put out this year with the Bevis Frond. Scott joined him for a couple of songs, "Third Eye" and the Zombies' "Remember You". For SF Bay Area people, Anton has a show next Thursday (11/12) at the Starry Plough in Berkeley with his full five-piece band. This is the Bay Area release show for GULADONG, which on a loud-fans related note, marks the officialrelease of Anton's "Stewart Mason" song. It's on Pink Hedgehog records (http://www.dumbangel.freeserve.co.uk/antonhome.htm) and available at the usual places, like 125records.com. - -Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Nov 2003 17:41:17 -0800 (PST) From: zoom@muppetlabs.com Subject: [loud-fans] Chat? irc.stealth.net #loudfans for another hour or so.
