So she's got connectivity, but she can't surf anywhere, because she can't type in a web address anywhere. Anyone know what went wrong, or more to the point how to fix it? Offlist is fine. Machines hate the whole family, Andy "I love talking about [my father]. My favorite film [of his] is TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE. I first saw it in the living room on a home projector. When he and Bogart were making it, my father stepped back one day and said, 'Y'know, we might have something here.' And Bogie said, 'Shut up, John, it's just a Western.'" - --actor/writer/director Danny Huston (John's son, Walter's grandson, Anjelica's half-brother), quoted in Sunday's "Parade" magazine ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Nov 2003 18:46:38 -0800 (PST) From: zoom@muppetlabs.com Subject: [loud-fans] Chat? irc.stealth.net #loudfans Join Phil and me. And maybe I can forget about this goddamn cold, Andy In this site I present a Great idea - The Square Wheel. Lets put it frankly: The Square Wheel idea is one of important ideas of the centuries. However generally everyday we are hearing locutions as: The triangle was an improvement of a Square Wheel - it eliminated one bump... Re-inventing of the Square Wheel... Square Wheels - Round numbers ... and more. Accordingly matter of fact that real construction of Square Wheel is possible, make this invention great and promising. Where the idea may be used? At first I want surprise You that roll of Square Wheel is very restful and lenitive! And if You will make it viable the basic possibility of the Square Wheel invention will be pointed: - - to create Your New Personal Product - - to create Your New Business Product - - to create Your New Marketplace - - to create Your New Future [--from http://jokubonis.20megsfree.com/ ] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Nov 2003 22:28:28 -0800 (PST) From: Gil Ray Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Questions for the Very Old Among Us Lance had worked at City Hall Records for a couple of years as an order puller and packer. I didn't really know him all that well, but he had alcohol, health and depression problems, and I'm sure it didn't help that he had been used to being a rock star (at some level)and realizing that now,he's just a guy working in a warehouse. Thank goodness that I've gotten over my issues with that. We've had and still have a bunch of famous folks that have worked here, including Geoff Muldaur, Spencer Dryden, Mike Wilhelm, Peter Albin, ( and don't forget Scott Miller and Joe Becker!). It is humbling, but most are glad to have employment at the time, and most run screaming and crying out of here, to a way better place! Sometimes I feel that City Hall Records is a pirate ship, filled with crusty misfits that have great stories to tell. Lance killed himself by the old hose in the tailpipe trick, and while we were not friends by any means, his sadness must have been frightening, and I truly hope he is in a better place. I'm sorry for your losses, Andy. No one gets outta here alive, but it sucks when people leave too early. Gil (who actually knows 4 guys at work that are getting sigmoidoscopies in the next couple of weeks...I guess getting closer to 50 years old is better that not getting closer to 50.....Damn!) OK....how about that Michael Jackson?!?! - --- zoom@muppetlabs.com wrote: > > Well, in the last week we lost an ex-employee to > > death, a current employee to suicide (yet another > tiny > > footnote in the San Fransico music scene-his name > was > > Lance Dickerson and he played with tons of folk, > most > > notable was Commander Cody > > A fair amount about Mr. Dickerson in a book I > mentioned earlier, Geoffrey > Stokes' STAR-MAKING MACHINERY, the story of a > Commander Cody album from > start to finish. > > I'm sorry to hear about this, Gil.
