The Monosyllabics, because it's not pluralizable until you make it a band name, thus it's something new and distinct. "The Monosyllabics" is, in fact, that band name I've hoped to use for myself in a few years when I'm getting paid to teach and, therefore, paid to take summers off and rehearse music. But if anyone's planning to beat me to it, that's fine. cheers, - - Brian _________________________________________________________________ Instant message with integrated webcam using MSN Messenger 6.0. It's that line "Les Boys are glad to be gay..." It's sung in this sad way which to me, sends the message: Of course they're not really glad. Listening to the song as a whole, though, it sounds to me like the sadness has nothing to do with their sexuality, but that they're stuck doing their act in front of an unreceptive audience -- so basically, it's exactly the same song as "Sultans Of Swing," just in a different setting! Come to think of it, I've heard people say that they think the band in that song are being mocked too, but I don't hear that either. But if anyone's planning to beat me to it, that's fine. Long time no hear, Brian. Anyway, yeah, that's the way I was leaning as well. I'm just tickled at the fact that, given its meaning, it's five syllables long...plus, I suppose, there could be reference to all the monosyllable-named bands out there... As to anyone beating you to it, you've no worries there on my account. ..Jeff J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com/ :: "am I being self-referential?" np: collection of Clinic b-sides etc. (self-compiled) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2003 16:34:17 -0400 From: Jenny Grover Subject: [loud-fans] cool internet station Saw Thistle last night, and drummer Rick McCarty gave me the heads up on a cool internet radio station that some of you might enjoy. It's called 3wk, and can be found at, oddly enough, 3wk.com. You can listen in lo-fi for free, or hi-fi stereo for a paid subscription.
