Uh...whatchu talkin bout? I'm gathering there's a website somewhere from which some Liz Phair can be downloaded...that EP someone mentioned? What's > the URL, Pearl? 1.stick the cd in yr puter cd drive. 1a. run the program specified in autorun.inf, if necessary. 2. click "need more liz?" (wait for it) 3. click "download internet ep" 4. pick bandwidth/stream vs dl 5. make up e-mail address & zip code for capitol to sell to marketers. 6. send me the track list cuz i forgot to write it down and i don't know what songs 3 and 5 are called. you will wind up with an .asf file. if you don't want to use ms proprietary audio tools to listen, you will need to convert it to something more reasonable. goldwave's "ezconvertor" did the trick, although i had to upgrade directx for it to work. and it's funny looking at the wav file on a 'puter. 2 of the tracks aren't overcompressed, including a version of "hurricane cindy" that's new to me. i suspect if you've got a mac you may just be shut out. feh. i would much rather have had the option to pay $3-4 extra for a 'special' edition w/ bonus tracks. - -- d. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jun 2003 12:02:08 -0700 (PDT) From: "Pete O." Even with WM, I still haven't heard it. Eveything was working fine until it tried to "authenticate" my disk, at which point it opened 107 copies of Netscape, the blue screen of death appeared and forced me to reboot my puter. Same thing happened the 2nd time I tried to listen. There ain't gonna be a 3rd. I'll take my chances with the RIAA police. ===== ====== This space intentionally non-blank. ====== ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! That EP would be COMEANDGETIT. Here is the tracklisting: Jeremy Engle Bouncer's Conversation Fine Again Hurricane Cindy Shallow Opportunities All songs written by Liz Phair. Tracks 1-3 Produced by Michael Penn / Mixed by Mike Shipley. Track 4 Produced by Liz Phair / Mixed by Howard Willing. Track 5 Demo." And hey, I just found a copy of Mod Fuck Explosion (the album), and even though it's probably not very good, I'm kind of excited, being the Unrest completist that I seem to be turning into. BTW, not a word about the new Phair album in the new Matador newsletter. Maybe they're afraid that she'll write a response. - --dana ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Coming from the mid-30s Phair, with her literate, solid background, is beyond perplexing. You keep listening, waiting for the punchline - there has to be some huge joke, some big ironic wink coming on Phair's part. Surely she couldn't have traded everything away for a doomed shot at being a pop star, could she?"
