But, I found out yesterday that you can download a lot of pretty decent books for free, and am currently reading "Age of Innocence" and discovering that it is possible to deal with the teeny tiny screen and actually enjoy the reading experience. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good source for free sci-fi eBooks, especially from the '60's. Microsoft Reader format. eMusic: Beatles fans might want to check out the Kristin Hersh single "Echo" which has a pretty neat cover of "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey." The other b-side is also nice: a very raspy "Pennyroyal Tea" that I like a whole lot better than Nirvana's version. And finally, there's a signed copy of Codex Seraphinianus (the two volume version, which I've never seen) on eBay. Auction ends in a day. Buy it now at $700, but no one has bid yet, and the starting bid is $200. I'm wondering if everyone is waiting for the last minute to bid. Anyway, it looks like as good an opportunity as any to pick up one of the more amazing books ever published. Shari and I are definitely tempted. I was lucky enough to be working at the Strand Bookstore when they got a shipment of 6 of the one-volume versions, all of which were snatched up by staff (I got two) before they got anywhere near the sales floor. The auction is here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3524310256&category=22 32 In the description, it mentions that the Codex was part of a series of books "The Signs of Man." I've never heard of that, and a web search came up empty. Anyone know anything about this series? - --dana ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2003 15:35:58 -0700 (PDT) From: "G. And see, we guessed that without having any idea of what your hair looks like or what kind of music you're personally into. For all we know, you might be a total hippie, president of the chess club, a punk, or all three. The truth is that you think for yourself and stand up for what you believe in, and that's so very punk rock. 74% of the people who took this quiz got the same evaluation. wow - so i'm punk and still just like 74% of the rest of the world. kick ass. brianna - ----- Original Message ----- From: "G.
