If Apple got their hands on this, they would also probably get Emusic too. There have been some rumors on the various Apple rumor boards about Apple offering a subscription mp3 service that would operate through the iTunes app, maybe starting as soon as the end of this month. Very interesting, to say the least. Not that Emusic has ever been too Mac friendly. Chris (The article reports that Apple is interested in buying Vivendi's Universal Music Group). I've also seen that it's supposed to be based on mp4 via a newly released iTunes 3, probably Mac only. But that doesn't seem to match well with buying a record company. This makes me wonder about the rest of the reporting - > Jobs, who is also chairman of Pixar Animation Studios, helped found > Apple in 1976, then stepped down as its chief nine years later to > launch Next. And Apple does have $4 Billion in cash, not that I'm advocating that they buy anything. - - Steve __________ I for one, am convinced: I am switching my laptop to Mac OS X. Does anyone know if the original L.A. Times story had a by-line? Because it was a distinct pleasure to read the neglected verb "founder" used correctly. It, and the rather fishy "flounder," are pet peeves from the "oft- misused ['oft' meaning 'almost always'] words" list. "Comprise" tops the list, of course. Any of you erudite listers have any pet words that you see or hear abused that set you off? Oh, and "notorious" and "notoriety" used where the connotation is a good sort of fame, rather than a bad sort.
