The person who took it off Jeff's hands would never have bought any copy of this record. If he winds up liking it, the Fall's record companies have a much better chance of getting some of his money. I didn't have a clue what was going on when I asked for the record. But I occasionally accept burned copies of commercial releases. My general sense (no moral judgment attached, just some approximate bookkeeping) is that the record companies mostly get money from me if I wind up liking the records, and mostly don't get anything if I don't.
