We walked through the last of summer, When shadows reached long and blue Across days that were growing shorter: You said: 'There's autumn too'. Always for you what's finished Is nothing, and what survives Cancels the failed, the famished, As if we had fresh lives From that night on, and just living Could make me unaware Of June, and the guests arriving, And I not there. - --Phillip Larkin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 19:31:19 -0500 (EST) From: Aaron Mandel Subject: [loud-fans] new Lucksmiths There's a new Lucksmiths album available for pre-ordering at www.candlerecords.com.au. I mention this because I figure some people will want to know but also because it contains one of the better twee-pop in-joke song titles I've seen in a while: "There Is A Boy That Never Goes Out". Meanwhile, I've got my eMusic subscription working again and am liking the new Cat Power a lot. Wish I'd bought the full quality version of that and downloaded the new Go-Betweens instead of the other way around. aaron ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 19:58:54 -0500 From: Jenny Grover Subject: [loud-fans] forget the duct tape http://www.feederz.com/brush.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 22:50:43 -0600 From: "CJ" Subject: Re: [loud-fans] So, anybody heard of this lady? Based on some end-of-the-year favorites lists, I can say for sure that Paula Carino, Tom Krueger and I have heard of her. I saw her open for someone in Iowa City. At first I thought, "Oh great, another girl with a guitar." By the end of her set I was in awe. And I think I fell in love with her when, just before she played her last song, she singled out the only person in the crowd who was talking and essentially told her to shut up. I see that you can get her debut, WISHBONE, at her website (www.elenimandell.com) and you should. But I've liked them all so far. I guess I'm headed to the Electric Fetus tomorrow for her new one. Be good, CJ "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' And I tell you: Hate your enemies and bomb the hell out of those who might persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven." - Jesus Matthew 5:43-45a - ----- Original Message ----- From: "G.
