I didn't include it because I wasn't on the list in 1993 -- there was a Loud-List in 1993, I think -- but should have included it anyway, I guess. In other news, Sunday evenings have turned into a shameful three hours and twenty minutes of TV in our household. It actually got less complicated when ANGEL moved to Wednesdays, so now I don't have to run a tape too, but from 7 to 10:20, it's: Charmed (WB) Alias (ABC) Coupling (BBC America) The Office (BBC America) Of course, the new series of COUPLING and THE OFFICE (copyright on the latter is 2001) will give out in a few weeks, so we'll probably be back down to two hours in no time. As you can see, we've given up on the Fox comedies, ANDY RICHTER CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE being the exception, but it's also had repeats of the Sunday episodes later in the week, so we just watch it then. In even more news, we had a wonderful wet snow last night, the kind that cloaks the world in wintry wonder, yet was melty enough on the roads this morning to make for a clear commute that was no more life-threatening than usual (maybe even less than usual, what with the SUV-driving moms not having to cart their offspring to school). This is the first winter of the sixteen I've had in Nashville where there's been two snows of four inches or more. Needless to say, the natives are freaked. later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Feb 2003 11:09:15 -0600 From: Miles Goosens Subject: [loud-fans] Wire SEND preorders I had a couple of people ask me about Wire preorders after I mentioned the new full-length album, SEND, on Loudfans last week. Today posteverything.com put up their preorder page for SEND: http://www.posteverything.com/news/article.php?id=3116 And yes, SEND orders from posteverything.com get the live CD of last year's red-hot Chicago show. Note also that there will also be a big ol' vinyl release containing SEND and vinyl versions of READ AND BURN 01/02. While there's no tracklisting as of yet for SEND, I take this as confirmation that SEND will be entirely different takes and/or mixes than the R&B series. later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Feb 2003 11:17:50 -0600 From: Miles Goosens Subject: [loud-fans] Re: Wire SEND preorders Um, one correction -- while the link below doesn't have the SEND tracklisting, the order page does: http://www.posteverything.com/artists/release.php?id=3102 1.01 'In the Art of Stopping (3.34)' 1.02 'Mr Marx's Table (3.02)' 1.03 'Being Watched (2.57)' 1.04 'Comet (3.17)' 1.05 'The Agfers of Kodack (3.13)' 1.06 'Nice Streets Above (full version) (3.46)' 1.07 'Spent (4:43)' 1.08 'Read & Burn (2:35)' 1.09 'You Can't Leave Now (3.41)' 1.10 'Half Eaten (1.58)' 1.11 '99.9 (7:38)' Not counting the "full version" of "Nice Streets," tracks 2, 3, 9, and 10 aren't on the READ AND BURN CDs. I have no idea if these are reworked and retitled R&B tracks, except for "Mr. Marx's Table," which was played at every 2002 show and definitely is seeing its first release. At any rate, with at least five tracks being new or significantly different on SEND, the READ AND BURN CDs still sound like plenty of value for the Wire fan... later, Miles At 11:09 AM 2/10/2003 -0600, Miles Goosens wrote: >I had a couple of people ask me about Wire preorders after I mentioned the >new full-length album, SEND, on Loudfans last week. I'm sure that they're the band I saw on Letterman a few weeks ago and thought, "What a pant-load these guys are". (Thanks Aaron!) Imagine my surprise to find myself Most Normal. That's never happened before. Seriously, I think it's a result of the dearth of new music I heard last year. I plan on using the Less Normal's results to expand my mundane horizons. David >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > MOST NORMAL LOUDFANS (weighted) > > 1/ David Seldin (26.55 points) > 2/ Doug Stanley (21.89 points) Yeah, The same goes for me. It was certainly a less music-centric year for me. Of course, after seeing Sloan live, I knew everything else would suffer by comparison. I believe this was the third year in a row where I've picked a Rhett Miller (Old '97s) 'alb' as my #1. And instead of using the 'least normal' as my touchstone, I'm going with Bill Silvers' picks. He's never steered me wrong. Doug S.
