In quantity I may not have found > a lot of great records but in quality my Top 9 > made this probably my favorite year in music > since 1998. My position on one's ability to judge the overall quality of music in a year is well-known...but if you're referring to the quality of what's popular, while I haven't heard I did hear a bit of Avril Lavigne on SNL last night, and at least it's attempted music, instead of boy-band shit, prefab McR&B, or suburban c-rap-metal. I'll give her credit: it wasn't half-bad (and I'd seen a bit of one of her videos in the electronics dept of a store some time ago: similar impression). And while Mr. Mathers clearly has some personal issues, I've come around to the position that he also is quite talented at what he does. Musically, that is. I have no judgment on his pistol-whipping skills. ..Jeff J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/ADS.html :: Solipsism is its own reward :: :: --Crow T.
