Last night's episode was >a real cracker, maybe the best yet of this season. I guess we're just not talking about it. Yeah, last night was full of surprises. I think it's acually better than last year--it seems to me that they have the whole plot planned out in advance, whereas last year they wrote most of it as they went along, not knowing if they'd even make it through 24 hours. On the other hand, the show still has its main fault, and it's possibly even worse than last year---every woman on the show is either evil or absolutely helpless. It's really pathetic that they haven't been able to write one single decent female character. Maybe Lynne has some promise, but otherwise... And every single one of them needs a sandwich. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. I'm just glad they're keeping up the absurdity level. You never know what's going to happen next. I'm half expecting that aliens shot the plane down from above. What was the deal with the guys in the van anyway? That seemed pretty out of the blue. >On the other hand, the show still has its main fault, and it's possibly >even worse than last year---every woman on the show is either evil or >absolutely helpless. The advent of DVDs pretty much put a stop to my rampant CD buying, or at least it helped a lot. But I was running of space to store them anyway. And maybe I'm getting a tad more discriminating about music in my old age. Except now I'm running out of space to store the DVDs. You know, we really should just forget about music entirely and turn this into a movies-and-TV list. Our local paper's pop/rock columnist wrote a column this weekend declaring the music industry Dead ( http://tinyurl.com/3o7r ). I think they're connected with Bob Warner's CIA connections (or whatever those turn out to be): recall that when the PI cracked into Warner's files (in the usual TV method of randomly typing for five seconds - damn, good thing passwods are so very secure on TV), there evidently was some sort of failsafe function the PI didn't know about, since it started deleting itself. I'm assuming that that action perhaps also called into play these goons whose job it is to manhandle whoever might have broken into Warner's files. Or...hell, I'm having trouble keeping everything straight... ..Jeff J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/ADS.html :: I suspect that the first dictator of this country will be called "Coach" :: --William Gass ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Dec 2002 01:33:52 -0500 From: jenny grover Subject: Re: [loud-fans] 24 (ns) Aaron Milenski wrote: > > On the other hand, the show still has its main fault, and it's possibly even > worse than last year---every woman on the show is either evil or absolutely > helpless. Yep. Or dead already. It's still fun to watch, though. I missed last week's ep (was in Hawaii, so I'm not complaining), so there were a couple of "who's that guy?" moments, but I think I got it all figured out. I think what's maybe more annoying than the woman character problem is the stupid little things, like that they never would have taken the dad into custody without also seizing his computer, and that there's no way that George wouldn't be non-contagious if he'd snorted that big a dose of plutonium. I sure wouldn't want him coughing on me! It was so blatant, I can't believe it wasn't caught--especially for all the press that show got at the beginning for being so meticulous about such things. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Dec 2002 02:37:12 EST From: JRT456@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] EW Top 10's To his credit, Stew is saying that maybe he got slightly carried away putting out product this year, and could have stood to maintain quality control a little better...although my only relative disappointment from him this year is "Welcome Black," which still sounds to me like one of the top 16 albums of the year. And his appearance on the Kristian Hoffman duets album was another high point. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V2 #435 *******************************
