Anyone have a recommendation for the best form in which to acquire it? Also, it's that time of the year, and I'm trying to decide whether to buy an iPod or one of its competitors. Anyone care to put in a word for or against any of the 20 gig (or bigger) mp3 players? I Mac not. Lots of great stuff turning up on eMusic, including the Warlocks, the early Fall (it's funny to hear the Johnny Rotten in young Mark Smith), another Sonic Youth live one (albeit already released on CD) and a bunch of other things. They also have those first two Blonde Redhead albums that I never quite got around to buying. Smith -- he seems like one of those people who was born 40 years old. -d.w. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Nov 2002 16:29:37 EST From: LeftyZ@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Lunatics Anonymous (ns) In a message dated 11/30/02 12:50:15 PM, dana-boy@juno.com writes: << Also, it's that time of the year, and I'm trying to decide whether to buy an iPod or one of its competitors. On the 1999 reissue of THE KINGS ARE HERE, as most 80's compilations (ie-Rhino's otherwise excellent JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH) use the edited ("Switchin' To Glide" w/o "This Best Goes On") version and the band never had enough hits (hell, I think they only ever had one other album back in the day, followed by an attempted comeback record around 1994-ish) to warrant a GREATEST HITS collection. TKAH totally rocks just as much as the single all the way through, though, and is a sentimental favorite of mine. I don't know if that reissue was released anywhere outside of Canada, but I'd be more than happy to pick you, or anyone else this might sound interesting to, up a copy (at my HMV staff discount, of course!) if you like. I don't know how the Windows iPod compares to the Mac one, but I have the latter and am thrilled with it. The interface was just fine to begin with and gains a few "hey, that's neat" little details with every firmware revision. 5 gigs is enough for most of my favorite albums plus a rotating cast of most of the new records I think I'll be listening to a lot; with 20 gigs I'd have to spend a solid weekend just loading it up to start out... a ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V2 #414 *******************************
