I know you guys are mocking the www.whatwouldjesusdrive.org campaign - it's a bit hokey, and their website could use some work - but I think it's a great, great thing and I have a lot of respect for the evangelicals who are taking part in it. It's not a natural overlap of constituencies (take a look at the back-and-forth dialog on the site), and it can be difficult to motivate people to participate in a cause that their gut tells them is driven by a mostly secular crowd. Getting the religious communities engaged in environmental and sustainable developments issues is one of the gravest challenges that environmentalists face, and I applaud the effort. Let's hope they are successful in their work, and let's hope that other traditionally under-represented religious groups (AME and black Baptist churches, Muslim communities, Orthodox Jews, Mormons, etc.) are also encouraged. Nissan seems to like the loud, metal-ish tunes. - -- It's well known that if you take a lot of random noise, you can find chance patterns in it, and the Net makes it easier to collect random noise. I'm not sure I was mocking it as such...but as always when religions (which I view as an intensely personal thing, however much they gain in being practiced socially & collectively) use mass media, there's a certain inevitable mismatch of tone. I *would* like to hear of more religions using their pulpits to approach social issues: as you note, there is absolutely an overlap in the religious ethics most religions teach and how one interacts with the world, including one's choice of transportation. > last seen: Aimee Mann in concert last night I last saw Aimee Mann last night...in her guest appearance on _Buffy_, of course.
