I think this paragraph shows merely that the two of you have different tastes in humor, so before this discussion degenerates into who thinks Carrot Top is funnier than Adam Sandler or whatever we should just accept the fact that while a lot of books, movies, TV shows, whatever can somewhat be defined by "quality," humor is probably the most personal and subjective quality by far. This is being said by someone who finds Benny Hill and roller derby funnier than the Simpsons, proof that there's no accounting for taste in these matters. >1) DHARMA AND GREG really was funny for its first couple of seasons. I thought so too. But then again, I just told you I find roller derby funny... So, anyone here have opinions on Push, Nevada? I'd like to see that episode again because, I seem to remember that most, if not all, of the script was comprised of Beatles lyrics. Certainly this episode alone might render The Powerpuff Girls a fond spot in loud-fan standing, second only to a possible episode done entirely in Scott Miller lyrics. As an aside, one of my favorite names for a cartoon character is General Specific from the cartoon Sheep In the Big City. Also, I saw a couple of episodes of (Speilberg's, I know) Freakazoid and found it hilarious, but maybe I was just in a silly mood, since it hasn't been on the air in a few years now. Freakazoid was produced by the same team who did Animaniacs, and I think it was their chance to do an even more anarchic and adult-oriented (in the sense of jokes that would go flying over the average 8-year-old's head) show than Animaniacs. I thought it was Elmyra, from Tiny Toon Adventures. I never saw a single one of those (luckily, apparently, since absolutely everyone says they're ghastly). I dunno, as much as I loved the original Pinky and the Brain cartoons from Animaniacs -- and they were absolutely my favorite characters - -- I thought that the full-length episodes (the ones where one scheme took up the full half-hour) were kind of padded and sluggish. They didn't have quite the energy of the shorts. I wasn't expecting to see an Italo-disco tribute video on Loudfans... It's a music video. The song is "Disco Rout" by Legowelt, and is taken from probably my favorite compilation of 2002, Ghostly International's _Tangent 2002:Disco Nouveau_ (which happens to come in one of those cool little hardcover jewel box sized booklets.) It's a pretty cool computer animated video (almost a socialist realist paper-cutout vibe) with lots of really saturated reds and oranges and geometric skiers. -d.w. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 21:19:08 -0300 From: John F Butland Subject: [loud-fans] roxy dvd Hey Y'all, I asked about the R1 availability of a recent Roxy Music live DVD a few weeks back and got several responses so I know some of ya are interested.
