They had it on their computer system as this coming Tuesday, and the "quantity on hand" in the store's system this past Tuesday afternoon was 0. I called today, and they still had 9/17 as the release day, but they had a copy on hand. Needless to say, money changed hands, and it was played in the car all night while delivering pizza. "Convertible Music" really took me back. When I heard one track that I haven't heard in 18 years, I swear, I thought I was gonna start blubbering, I was so moved with nostalgia. For those who may not know, JC's second record "From the Hip" was produced by Roy Thomas Baker and Lindsay Buckingham did some guitar on one track. Reminds me of Belinda Carlisle having the pop master Brian Wilson on a solo track, "California." Surround yourself with the best. That's the way to do it. As far as I'm concerned, "Convertible Music" and the first two Go-Go's albums WERE 1982. Sure, nobody really cares about Josie Cotton these days, and yeah, the music would make you need to brush your teeth after too long, but damn, the sugar high is great. Yep, except usually you relate each note to the fundamental (as you did with that seventh) rather than to a preceding note. A C and a G an octave and a half up have more in common than an E and a G a third up, because really what the E and G have in common is that they both relate to a (unheard) C an octave and a half down from them, rather than one of them relating directly to the other. If that makes any sense. | With each being half of the preceding frequency? I'm just | remembering about how notes in open position on the trombone went... Each overtone is a one greater multiple of the fundamental frequency. So if you start with a fundamental of 100Hz, the note an octave up is 200Hz, an octave and a half is 300Hz, two octaves is 400Hz, etc. Dan - -- http://www.dfan.org ------------------------------ Date: 13 Sep 2002 23:55:35 -0400 From: Dan Schmidt Subject: Re: [loud-fans] discuss Dana Paoli writes: | Which leaves me still wondering whether glenn likes or dislikes the | new CD. I didn't particularly care for Kilborn poking fun of Morrissey all during the show (the commercial spoof didn't amuse me in the least...in my eyes Morrissey was slumming).
