Street date is 8/20/02. I believe that this offer is available to everyone except for Jenny Grover, whose browser will crash if she tries to buy it. Anyone had Pepsi Blue yet?? I have to agree that the Vanilla Coke is a disaster, and it should have been good. On the other hand, Orangina Red (which seems to have just become available here) is very nice...not too sweet at all. - --dana ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! I like to put it in the freezer until it almost, but not quite crystallizes, then pour it over lots of ice in a tall glass. I even blogged about it (Vanilla Coke, too): http://www.freeke.org/ffg/archives/2002_07_28_ffg-hist.html#79516631 - -- Dave Walker freeform radio and live, nude fish at: http://www.freeke.org/ffg ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 21:29:05 -0400 From: "Larry Tucker" Subject: RE: [loud-fans] Re: guitarist poll - -----Original Message----- From: jenny grover [mailto:sleeveless@citynet.net] Sent: Fri 8/9/2002 8:15 PM To: Cc: loud-fans@smoe.org Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Re: guitarist poll Larry Tucker wrote: > > "Badge" is one of those songs that I surely have heard 500 times or more > and still sounds good to me. Harrison played rhythm and then that little Beatle-like guitar piece (a small lead of sorts) that leads into Clapton's lead. - -Larry ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 21:30:16 -0400 From: "Larry Tucker" Subject: RE: [loud-fans] Re: guitarist poll - -----Original Message----- From: jenny grover [mailto:sleeveless@citynet.net] Sent: Fri 8/9/2002 8:26 PM To: Cc: loud-fans@smoe.org Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Re: guitarist poll Stewart Mason wrote: > > I'm sitting here replaying the song in my head, and honestly, I don't think > I've ever even noticed a guitar on the outro to "Layla"! These are the recordings from the Pixies' original demo tape (occasionally bootlegged as "the Purple Tape") that they submitted to 4AD. 4AD were impressed enough with the demo that they released about half of it as _Come On Pilgrim_. Just about all of the other tracks were later re-recorded on later Pixies albums -- indeed I think every Pixies studio album includes at least one song that was originally recorded for this demo. - -- Dave Walker freeform radio and live, nude fish at: http://www.freeke.org/ffg ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Aug 2002 21:48:12 -0400 From: jenny grover Subject: Re: [loud-fans] borscht (ns) Dana Paoli wrote: > > I believe that this offer is available to everyone except for Jenny > Grover, whose browser will crash if she tries to buy it. Pepsi Blue isn't so hot. Kinda weird, but pretty boring, really. The new Dr. Pepper red thing (can't remember the name of it right now) is better. It's actually good enough that I would try one again. I liked Pepsi Blue -- the convenience store near my office used to have a blue "fruit punch" flavor which this tastes similar to, and when the store closed I was left slightly bereft. Orangina Red is all right, but whichever trendy caffeine-substitute they put in it wires me way up when I drink it. In France they have, like, six flavors of Orangina. That was nice. a ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 00:29:29 EDT From: AWeiss4338@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Re: guitarist poll In a message dated 8/9/2002 8:19:25 PM Eastern Standard Time, sleeveless@citynet.net writes: > Gee, I always thought the outro to Layla lasted way too long and got > kinda boring. For me, the first part of the song has always been a necessary but somewhat excruciating prologue to the piano-based section at the end, which is indescribably moving. (Although its effects have been dulled through overplay and commercial use.) Keep "Layla" and "Let It Rain" as the B-side, and throw the rest of Clapton's work away--I wouldn't miss it. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 23:42:57 -0700 (PDT) From: "Joseph M.
