I'll second Dana's recommendation. Lest we forget, there's those Flying Nun comps "Tuatara" and "In Love With These Times", especially if you were able to get your hands on the European pressings with bonus tracks (Look Blue Go Purple, Scorched Earth Policy, and Doublehappys on the former; Jay Clarkson, Dead Famous People, Bird Nest Roys, The Terminals, This Kind Of Punishment, and The Dead C. on the latter). The main characters are a bit cliched, but it works. Witty and funny. The tried and true Odd Couple premise, with the chemistry from the radical differences between the main characters. Imagine if Woody Allen's character in Annie Hall, Alvie Singer, was gay, (Peter Jacobson as Elliot) trying to work with a young Italian New York "King of Queens" type, though younger and a tad hipper, and not wanting to assimilate to his caste (Michael Parducci as Alex) on a movie script. If you're a sucker for romantic comedies like I am this is your cup of chamomile. My only gripe is that it seems that, if you want your film to get an award these days (Sundance best screenplay), have a gay character in your script. Kind of like if you want your children's book to get a Newbery award, have a dog as a protagonist, and make sure it dies in the end. - -Mark Staples np The Zombies "The Collection" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 Aug 2002 21:45:42 -0600 From: Roger Winston Subject: [loud-fans] another passing Mitch Easter's mother Lib passed away Friday. I've met and chatted with her on a few occasions in the past and can attest to the fact that she was a remarkable woman and a true patron of the arts, as well as a gifted artist herself.
