Probably not the best thing to buy as a first exposure, but it's what I found in the used racks. Anyway, on this album, when they're doing more or less proper songs, I've liked it quite a bit. But I don't like the disc on the whole because there's too much "sound collage" stuff that just doesn't do anything for me. So given that, my question is, should I look into the rest of the catalog (if so, anything in particular) or am I likely to be disappointed with everything else as well? - --Michael http://www.filmatters.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Apr 2002 15:26:57 -0400 From: Stewart Mason Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Olivia Tremor Control Q At 03:19 PM 4/9/02 -0400, Michael Mitton wrote: >I recently bought my first OTC album, Singles and Beyond. The OTC were all about the sound collage stuff, not the pop songs. If you don't like the collage things, you won't like their albums. Just skip the ambient tracks. The fully ambient side-project - The Black Swan Network - now THAT'S something to avoid. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Apr 2002 22:24:58 -0600 From: Roger Winston Subject: [loud-fans] Mulholland Drive DVD censored I thought this was interesting: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62538 The weird thing is that apparently David Lynch himself is responsible. Nevertheless, what little you can see of his website without paying is still a hoot. http://www.davidlynch.com/ - - Steve __________ I know that it's cynical, but I feel that civil liberties-for a lot of these people in Congress-are either an inconvenience or a campaign slogan.
