Occupations that pay nothing: Extreme obsessive fandom of music (duh...), movies (duh...), and sports (gotcha! If an evil emperor ever forced me to choose between a lifetime of never listening to another musical note and never seeing another game involving my beloved Cardinals, Blues, Rams, Tigers, or thorougbred racehorses....well, I'd lead a very unmusical life.) I play soccer on weekends, try to attend at least four Grade I horse races per year (missed only one Kentucky Derby since 1992), geek out on video games (GTA 3 roxxors, baybay!), snowboard, read the classics, and regular geeky Loudfan activities... Facial Hair: It's an involved story. Never had a beard, but as my hairline continued its recession and began to become shot through with white, I did the MJ thing and shaved it all off, prompting my girlfriend to remark that I suddenly looked like Max Shreck in NOSFERATU (apparently, my ears are a bit pointy or something...) After adding a beard and growing out just enough hair to have that cool Andre Agassi "dirty tennis ball" sheen to my dome, I am assured that I am again an "ageless, sexy bitch." Cool previous jobs worked: KCOU FM in Columbia MO as a music/program geek, and Euclid Records in St. Louis, where Jeff Tweedy occasionally "worked" (if hungover naps on the basement couch can equal "working") for a brief bit post-Tupelo and pre-Wilco. First Scott exposure: Bought ENIGMA VARIATIONS 2, ostensibly for the Plan 9 and Agent Orange songs, and accidentally heard "Erica's Word". Instantly hooked, two hours later I was back at the store buying BSC. Favorite Scott lp: Probably still BSC, although LN, PABARAT, and lately IC are gaining quickly. Janet & Andy: Almost met in 1998 when I was opening two restaurants for our company for a franchisee in Columbus. Upon realizing that the franchisee was horrifically unprepared to run even a lemonade stand (the company I work for got fed up with their antics and bought the restaurants back almost immediately) I got involved in 18-hour workdays and missed my golden opportunity. It is a credit to the good vibes coming from these two that I still regret the missed opportunity. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V2 #22 ******************************
