But Oz, does your comment mean there's too much bass in the mix, or too little? I'm only familiar with the two albums from British vinyl I bought in the mid-80s, and the problem with that mix was tinniness. The little bass there was in the high, junky range, and the instruments and vocals had way too much emphasis on the mid-treble and high midrange. It sounded like my dad's handheld radio, and that's not a compliment. I fixed what I could with my five-band equalizer and recorded it to cassette that way. What exactly is the new mix like? Wackenhut's actually the name of the private prison company that runs the place, under a contract from INS. Either way, it's a holding place for roughly 200 asylum-seekers. They wear bright orange jumpsuits and standard issue black, laceless sneakers. They're not allowed outside at all (unless you count a few hours a week in a small paved inner courtyard). They sleep in large dormitories that used to be storage bays of some sort, back when this building was a warehouse. The detainees are not >for any reason< allowed to have staples; these are 'dangerous contraband' as I was recently warned." - --from the diary of Jennie Guifoyle, an attorney for US asylum seekers and battered immigrant spouses, at http://slate.msn.com/?id=2060406 ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V2 #9 *****************************
