Sounds like big fun. I don't know if the "Can I Help You?" song is downloadable anywhere on the web, but thanks to overwhelming popular demand (someone asking me about it), I've restarted my holiday music station at live365.com, which has that song, a few others by loud-fans past and present, plus a hundred or so others. Unfortunately, there were so many discs that they didn't think to check the booklets, and for the next year or two, I would quite often buy a used CD from this place and discover when I got home that this guy had stuck the receipt inside the booklet...usually with his full name, full credit card number and expiry date helpfully printed on it. A radio birdman - aloha steve and dano a good mix opener. *johnny cash - rusty cage the man in black - how can you go wrong? acme music - guess things happen that way this is ok, but a bit boring. mark lanegan - she's not for you a dark and quiet song. young fresh fellows - life goes on i really liked the YYF vs. the minus five double disc i picked up earlier this year. this song is a bit shoe-gazerish (not necessarily a bad thing). love battery - just can't be happy today nothing jumped out at me on this one. truly - girl don't tell me you'll write this has a nice jangly early 90s sound to it. game theory - i want to hold your hand a fine cover. belly - are you experienced? i didn't realize this was belly at first. i do not like hendrix. but this is ok. the chills - draft morning quiet, swirly stuff. this isn't what the chills usually sound like is it? posies - brief candles this is pretty nice. yo la tengo - somebody's baby excellent. judybats - she lives (in a time of her own) another band i don't know much about, but feel like i would like them a lot. the plugz - hombre secreto i love this, from the repo man soundtrack. B ciccone youth - into the groovy i always liked this album more in theory than in reality. a small dose is OK, though. husker du - eight miles high cool guitar sound, but i was never a big fan of theirs. mother love bone - hold your head up ugh. sorry, this is awful. christmas - ice cream city oh, this is much better. i've always heard interesting things about christmas, and now i think i should hunt down some of their stuff. any suggestions? wellwater conspiracy - sandy this is pretty good too. kind of fuzzy and lo-fi. not bad. this band really has something to do with monster magnet??? the adult net - incense and peppermints my attempt to find out something about this band by entering "the adult net" into google came up with porn pages aplenty. this is a fairly faithful cover, with female vocals. too bad about their name. screaming trees - song of a baker this was actually ok until it got to the wanky guitar solo. the plimsouls - we gotta go healthy dose of power pop with some good drumming. holsapple/stamey - here without you _mavericks_ is a favorite of mine, this is such a lovely version of this song. mike johnson - a minor aversion sort of sad and dark, has the kind of voice that's a little creepy. mojave 3 - love from room 109 at the islander kind of quiet and sad, maybe like cowboy junkies sort of sound. jeff buckly - hallelujah very nice. overall, an interesting mix. thanks jen, and sorry for taking too long to get around to this. - --betsy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2001 22:26:23 -0500 From: Betsy Lescosky Way Subject: [loud-fans] velvet crush (NS) I stopped by the big book/record/video store tonight, the one that starts with a B. MM opened up for Soundgarden on part of a tour and that's how John met Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron, and after John left MM, the three of them formed WWC. > the adult net - incense and peppermints > my attempt to find out something about this band by entering "the adult net" > into google came up with porn pages aplenty. this is a fairly faithful cover, > with female vocals. too bad about their name.
