I'm leaving Portland on the morning of the 18th - otherwise I'd definitely see Mark Lanegan. I'll bet the other PDX loud-fans will go. Berbati's Pan seems to be the popular club site in Portland .... -julianne PS Oh, I get to go to Cabo! Despite how unpromising this may sound, their one(?) album RESTRAINING BOLT actually wasn't too bad. Some really lame lyrics and generic grunge bluster here and there but also a lot of rather catchy moments and at least one really great song ("My Guitar") that was a staple of my mix tapes at the time. Probably easy to find in cutout bins or at used stores these days and worth the $3-5. BTW, any thoughts on the new Eels? I thought it sounded like a disorganized, thrown-together mishmash. Disappointing, considering how much I loved ELECTRO-SHOCK BLUES and DAISIES OF THE GALAXY. I thought it was really terrible, and inexplicably so, as if years from now we'll hear some Alex Chilton-ish story about Mark deliberately sabotaging anything that had a hope of sounding appealing on this record to spite somebody in the business. But of course it's only him that ends up sounding bad as a result. Bizarre. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V1 #302 *******************************
