I was so taken by the used copy of the Charlatans UK's 1999 release "Us and Us Only" that I found a few days ago (a great '90s reworking of "Exile" era Rolling Stones) that I forged on and picked up the new album, "Wonderland." Just to recap, I had asked about it a few days ago. So, Michael (and anyone else who might be interested), it's really good!! More like the Stones of "Some Girls" or "Emotional Rescue" with a lot of falsetto singing over funky rock grooves, excellent songwriting, plus the groovy keyboards that the band are known for (did I just scare everyone away with that description? I meant "funky," "groove," and "groovy" in a good way. Like the Stones' song "Miss You." Not like that funky rock band whose grooves drove you out of the bar last weekend). Irritatingly, the US version features two fewer songs than everyone else's, so it might be worth checking eBay for a used UK copy. I personally expect that I'll end up preferring "Us and Us Only" as it has a more acoustic sound, but fans of a more swaggery sound might like the new one better. How nice that the band has stuck it out for so long!! - --dana ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Well, winding up the press was a constant hobby with the Housemartins. He could have been pulling someone's leg. (Wasn't someone here claiming that PD Heaton is gay a while ago? I always thought that was a joke too.) a ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 00:12:47 EDT From: Vivebonpop@aol.com Subject: [loud-fans] deluge de pop Some stuff of possible interest released this past week or so: There were new releases by: Trembling Blue Stars Jenny Toomey Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions The Cranberries....
