Andy For Immediate Release: QUEENSRE8CHE PLANS TO BENEFIT NEW YORK CITY SURVIVORS & ITS HOMETOWN OF SEATTLE WITH A COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE ON SEPT. 25, 2001 Album Release Party For 'Live Evolution' Will Follow Progressive rock quintet QueensrC?che is sponsoring a community blood drive in its hometown of Seattle, WA, on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001. The event coincides with the release that day of its new double live CD 'Live Evolution' on Sanctuary Records. A record release party will be held after the blood drive. 'Live Evolution' was recorded at two concerts at Seattle's Moore Theater in July 2001. The QueensrC?che Campaign community blood drive will take place at the Stadium Exhibition Center (South Royal Brougham and Occidental) in the Second Floor Conference Room between noon and 6 p.m. Band members -- vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarist Michael Wilton, guitarist Kelly Gray, bass guitarist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield -- will attend and give blood donations themselves. Donations from the drive will be distributed both to Seattle area hospitals and rushed to New York City to help the survivors of the recent tragedy. Following the blood drive, the 'Live Evolution' record release/listening party will be held from 8pm to midnight at the Catwalk, located at 172 S. Washington St. in Seattle. QueensrC?che members will be on hand to autograph copies of 'Live Evolution'. QueensrC?che has a long tradition of assisting with charitable causes in Seattle. For example, in December 2001 QueensrC?che donated thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to the Gospel Mission, located on Second Avenue in Seattle. In addition to the 'Live Evolution' CD, a live DVD, QueensrC?che's first, will follow on October 9, 2001. Special features planned for the DVD include exclusive animation, bonus tracks and much more. The package will also be made available on VHS. The footage for this live home video was shot at the Moore Theater shows. www.queensryche.com www.sanctuaryrecordsgroup.com For more information, contact: Chipster Entertainment Inc. 1976 East High Street, Suite 203 Pottstown, PA 19464 Fax: 610-323-7230 E-mail: info@chipsterpr.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2001 01:17:54 -0400 From: Michael Bowen Subject: [loud-fans] Re: I knew that this crap was going to get bad when I saw a little doodad stuck to my dry cleaner's cash register last Saturday (96 hours after the attack) that had a picture of an "American" eagle with the head of Osama Bin Liner clutched in its beak, with the motto "The Eagle Is Pissed". I live about 50 miles away from "Ground Zero" in a town where lots of NYC firefighters, police officers, and other emergency workers live. While I can understand reflexive anger, people have got to realize that stupid sentiments like this are unworthy of Americans. Hell, I've changed the front page on my campaign website to express my feelings about the horrors visited on us, but this sort of jingoistic nonsense is only worthy of the people who committed these atrocities in the first place. Maybe he'll do a Fountains of Wayne Song. I stopped by the CD store today and realized that this back-loading of releases in September/October is really out of control. I quickly added up about $120 worth of fairly mainstream stuff that I'm eager to check out. Would it have killed the record companies to have released some of this stuff in February? Anyway, dipping my toes in the waters, I picked up the new CD by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, who hail from Wales, a country that strictly rations vowels and took the "sometimes y" part very seriously. The CD is called "How I Long To Feel That Summer in My Heart." While I'm extremely hesitant to say "I can't imagine anyone not liking this," because whenever I hear that phrase it usually precedes a plug for Ani Difranco or Fountains of Wayne, I will go out on a limb and say that I can't imagine anyone who likes soft, slightly psychedelic folk rock not liking this. In fact, I'd guess that many in that category would even really-like this album, wherein Gorky's finally get rid of the last traces of weirdness that frothed the surface of their Canterbury-influenced psych-folk-rock, and lay down track after track that sounds as comfortable as the J Crew Catalog says their jeans are. In addition to that, they manage to turn out one song (track #3, if memory serves) that sounds astoundingly like something the Millennium/Curt Boettcher might have come up with. Fans of, hmmmm, maybe Damon & Naomi or Super Furry Animals (in their quieter moments) might want to check this out. It's very warm and fuzzy and comforting, all good attributes at the moment. - --dana ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
