Oh - Dan's right; it's a wonderful release. The songs are great, the lyrics incisive, and the arrangements and playing sympathetic. The last sorta release from Regular Einstein, _Robots Helping Robots_ (I "accidentally" typed "Rogbots" at first...hmmm....), suffered from a couple of not-so-good arrangements, performances, and overlong songs - this one has none of those problems. - --Jeffrey with 2 Fs Jeffrey J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/ADS.html ::beliefs are ideas going bald:: __Francis Picabia__ np: Black Box Recorder _The Worst of Black Box Recorder_ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Aug 2001 14:17:54 -0500 (CDT) From: Jeffrey with 2 Fs Jeffrey Subject: [loud-fans] tastes just like chicken! Not to mention that items possess multiple attributes, so that something which is unique in ten of them is more unique than something else unique in only five of them. Also, qualifying the word "unique" has happened for centuries - that secondary meaning of "special" is well established and unlikely to disappear by fiat. Argh! I know what you mean; I feel as if the answer is nearly in my grasp, yet just out of reach. Until then, to tide you over for the One True Answer, I could suggest maybe Scott Walker? He started out in the Walker Brothers and from there followed a more and more obscure path, culminating with "Tilt" which is sort of avante-garde noise-opera, and the soundtrack to Pola X which is virtually all orchestral arrangements. Still doesn't quite mesh with Julian Cope, though. David Bowie might be on track as far as his experimental nature is concerned, but- alas- he's still well known and sells millions of records.
