I'm pretty sure that some of his covers are unreleased, at least officially. The vocal similarity between the two is pretty striking, although Neil sings more expressively and Stephin has a slightly deeper voice. I was thinking that M-Fields fans might like the new Divine Comedy album because the production is less 1000-piece-orchestra this time out. It was produced by Nigel Godrich (sp?) and while it doesn't sound like "Amnesiac," there are a lot more synthetic elements than in the past, which makes the similarities to the M-Fields a lot more apparent. - --dana ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Opinions? Based on only a couple of listens, it's...okay. For the most part, it doesn't have the experimental qualities of the first two albums. The songs all sound way too much alike, which is surprising considering how varied their earlier records are. And it's pretty disturbing that "Eclipse," one of the two best songs on the album ("Alleged" is the other) is basically a slowed-down rewrite of "Round the Bend." Everything else is pleasant enough, but pretty uninvolving. I really loved both THE THREE EPS and THE BETA BAND, but this sounds like they've already used up all their best ideas. Curious if any among you have heard of the band "Frisbies" (sic?) and, if so, have formed any opinion as regards them. Thank you. I knew I could count on all my little music-drones, busily working away for the good of the colony. Oh, and before I forget- I picked up my first and likely not last Bevis Frond album today, and I think there are a bunch of you out there in loudfan land that would like it. It's probably old hat to most of you, but the closest comparison I would draw is to a less-lyrically-inscrutable Guided By Voices. And like GBV, frequently quite catchy! (unlike GBV, there are occasionally songs on the album that break the ten-minute-mark...)
