Parasol are saying that the new one, 'Demolition' is due any time now, although the release date does seem to be slipping back almost on a monthly basis. NotLame's latest update had it listed as a pre-release order as well, I seem to remember. It *should* be out at the end of this month according to these sources, but part of me is starting to think I'll only believe that when I see it. I personally find that, even though there's nothing greatly interesting about them per se, their CD winds up in my player with alarming frequency. Anyone here have any dealings with a company called "The Laser's Edge" from New Jersey? They're selling an extremely out-of-print CD by Deux Filles "Silence & Wisdom" for $6.00, which is just plain silly. I placed an order on the web, then actually called them up to ask how many copies they have. The guy answering the phone was very nice and seemed pretty legit. He also seemed to be aware that the CD goes for a lot more on eBay, but also had no problem selling me another two copies (I'll be giving them to friends when/if they turn up). Their catalog seemed pretty interesting, based on the brief glance I had time to give it, and also pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things. They're located in Voorhees, NJ, and their website is www.lasercd.com. - --dana ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! They've been around for a while; kind of like Cuneiform/Wayside, it's a prog/psych record label partially financed by a distro business. The focus is less jazz/20th cent/improv than Cuneiform, but you can find some tasty Crimsoid and Italian morsels in their catalog, if that turns your crank. It's cool to go from the GEPR (Gibralter Encyclopedia of Prog Rock) to Laser's Edge to see what's available. I'm eagerly waiting for him to re-release the Nightwinds CD I got on CD-R from eBay. J. Once, after I'd finally broken it off with someone I should've dumped seven years earlier, I made the decision stick by unplugging my phone and giving it to my next-door neighbor every night. (I don't even drink... I guess I just get stupid when the sun goes down.) I'm not sure how you could turn a profit on that, but it was one of the best ideas I ever had. I had no relationship with the neighbor prior to that, but he understood the situation immediately. 86% female, by the way. With insurance, the insurance company pays any approved costs over the amount of the copay or deductible; those costs aren't arbitrarily inflated for non-holders of insurance as far as I know. I know a few people who have successfully haggled with hospitals. In two cases, it was a matter of obtaining evidence that they were billing insurance companies less, and specifically finding out how much they'd have charged for the same service. In the third case, the person asked for an itemized breakdown of costs and found all kinds of weird little charges in there... $24 for two Tylenols when she hadn't taken any Tylenols, that sort of thing. If you really can't pay it, sometimes once it gets to the point that collections people are on the case, they'll offer you a lower total in exchange for getting it paid off. Depends on the individual hospital's policy. Yes, if you haven't already, insist on an itemized breakdown. It has happened before that people have been billed twice for the same things by different hospital departments, including such hefties as anaesthesiology! In such cases, you will get the doubled charges dropped, but you have to have the evidence in hand. Yeah, but instead of a breathalyzer, why not program the number keys to leap about the dial (wait...now the 1's the 7, the 3's the 2, etc.) kinda like that annoying "Punch the Monkey" game you see online? That way, if you're too drunk, you could never dial the damned thing. Since they will no doubt be shocked at the situation, and also stricken with grief that their "best system" is leaving you in the lurch, they will all chip in and pay your bill for you.
