(c'mon Ian, where are you to back me > up on this one!), but thanks for the etymology! I'm here, Phil! Phil's right - interesting to find out that everybody's been using it incorrectly for as long as I can remember... In a similar vein I used to know someone that used "hiatus" and "palaver" interchangeably which I always found amusing. Also Phil mentioned Brian Stevens recently and offered up cassette copies - without wishing to inundate Phil with requests and condemn him to Stef-style burning-the-midnight-oil cassette duplicating sessions - I'd go for it! Hypothetically, if someone broke into my place and "liberated" my CDs and I had the insurance, how would I make a claim? Would I have to have them catalogued and photographed? Discuss this with your insurance agent, and make sure he knows you have all those CDs. A list and photographs are pretty essential. If the agent has them on file - even better. >Who is the best >carrier? What is the cost? How much would I receive per disc stolen? I'm sure someone was has actually had insured CDs stolen could answer these, or again, open up the yellow pages and call an agent (maybe one who handles more than one insurance company). Prices vary drastically depending on the company and your circumstances - you just gotta compare. I've been lucky in that I've yet to have to find out how to make a claim (for theft, at least). Oh yeah, I didn't mean you needed to take a picture of every disc! I realized afterwards I could've phrased that better. I think if you just have something that proves you had as many CDs as you said you did, and an itemized list of what was in the collection, you're probably good. I'll go with Allstate, as that seems to be the unanimous carrier of choice here, though I'll check with State Farm, as my car is insured through them, but my policy terminates in early August. I might switch to Allstate and do my car and renter's insurance through them. I need to check on premium prices and policy coverage first. The important part, which is the nature of that interaction, is left undefined via the phrase "being appreciated as music" which could theoretically mean anything. Eno's definition is ultimately about as helpful as saying that anything being appreciated as a peanut butter sandwich by an individual at a certain time is a peanut butter sandwich for that person at that moment. It confirms that our perceptions are our perceptions, but nothing more. - --dana ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
