The poet is Robert Herrick and although Kris calls her song Water Water, I think the poem is entitled The Scare-Fire. I really like it and I love how she adapts "old" stuff. She could make a whole concept album out of adaptations. For me, it was a very, very memorable evening. It was the first time I saw Kris. Although I'm fairly familiar. I have a couple of her CDs. But the live show was fantastic!!! I was very impressed with her style and her vocal range...and the ease with which she related to to the audience. She often gave some history (of where she was and how she felt) before she sang a song. It was a warm, muggy night... and especially up on stage. Kris commented several times...and halfway through the show they put the air-conditioner on. Amanda; You and your friends had a good seat right in front of stage. I blended into the audience...sitting right in front of the bar...in my high-back, electric head-resting wheelchair. (Yeah, I used to play guitar and write too). The first time I heard Kris's music...was on a local radio WSHU.... a weekend program called "Acoustic Connections". Needless to say, I fell in love. (Don't tell my wife I said that:-). I certainly will try to get to other local shows in the future. In my situation, it's not always easy. But I'll do my dam(er, darndest)., I could talk a lot more about the show...I would love to give a list of her songs, as folks usually do after her shows. But suffice to say...Kris played some early releases...and some later ones. She played about an hour-and-a-half...and returned for one encore. She was by herself. The whole show... weed out the fiddle, banjo, and string- bass backup. So she had to work hard...but she came shining through... A real professional!!! I am certainly going to try to get to other shows.
