Redbird is fantastic. I got my copy yesterday. The Wellesley show was pretty cool... she played "North Dakota," which I haven't heard her play in a long time. And she and Jabe played Deb & Steve's "Rocks and Water" :-) - m - ----- Original Message ----- > Date: Thu, 4 Dec 2003 22:51:43 -0500 > From: "Timothy Springer" > Subject: little-wings: Redbird > > omg ok so i got my copy of Redbird today and OH MY GOD! this cd is the best cd > of the year! i'd even go so far as to say it's better than "Songs for a > Hurricane" but i know some of you would bop my head for that one! but > seriously! have you heard this thing? She played a new song -- something about water I think -- the words were by some famous poet whose name I forget (the "gather ye rosebuds" guy, maybe?), except that she "f***ed around with them a bit." 2. The story behind "Open Road" -- can someone remind me? I couldn't really hear what she was saying. I knew that it was about a friend who drove across the country only to come right back, but I thought she mentioned something last night about the friend doing this to have something to write about for a songwriting contest -- but I could have *completely* misheard that ;-) - m ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Dec 2003 13:48:16 -0500 From: "Timothy Springer" Subject: Re: little-wings: 2 other things re: last night's show she had a friend that wanted to leave Boston and move to San Francisco so she wrote them a song. everyone was sad to see her go but kind of excited to see her branching out. so Kris wrote the song then went to the girl's job to sing to her and they all surprised her and Kris was crying when she sang it and everything. so they send her friend off to go explore the great Northwest and then about a month later, her friend comes back because she couldn't stay. so at least she got a song out of it! ;) ~tim - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marshall Levin" To: Sent: Friday, December 05, 2003 1:42 PM Subject: little-wings: 2 other things re: last night's show > There were some pretty noisy people right near me, so I couldn't hear a lot > of what Kris was saying... so maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about... > > 1.
