I can't believe she moved out to the country! It was so convenient having her in the Cambridge/Somerville area. It meant that not only did I get to hear her play her own shows very frequently, but that there was a better-than-even chance that she'd just turn up at somebody else's show and be called up on stage. It was getting to the point where it wasn't even a surprise anymore -- it was more of a surprise when that didn't happen. - m - ----- Original Message ----- > Date: Wed, 3 Dec 2003 14:20:40 -0600 > From: "Sharon Pieczynski" > Subject: Re: little-wings: shows this week > > When Kris played in Iowa City she mentioned she had moved to Greenfield just > the week before, adding that it was the most "Midwestern" town in MA :-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Dec 2003 22:51:43 -0500 From: "Timothy Springer" Subject: little-wings: Redbird omg ok so i got my copy of Redbird today and OH MY GOD! this cd is the best cd of the year! i'd even go so far as to say it's better than "Songs for a Hurricane" but i know some of you would bop my head for that one! but seriously! have you heard this thing? WOW! Kris Delmhorst seriously is my baby's daddy. she totally blew me away on "Ithaca" and "Lovely As The Day Is Long" and SO MANY OTHERS! and it's nice to hear her take on "Lighthouse Light" because i'd always wondered what she would sound like on that one. not to mention how JEFF sounds! if you don't already own his album "Miles from the Lightning" you really need to get it now! there are samples on his website www.jeffreyfoucault.com in case you're feeling bored one day. i discovered him through Kerry Hunter one day when Mark Erelli had me email her about some mp3s on his site. me and her chatted away and bam! she linked me to Jeff. not only is a looker, but his vocals are amazing. he breaks your heart on "Moonshiner" and who would've thought he could've done "I Gotta Get Drunk" like that?! when i read on Peter Mulvey's list that he did that song at a show, i thought for sure that it was going to be him on the cd doing it. but i was pleasently surprised to hear Jeff! the real honor goes to David Goodrich, though, for his mandolin work on "Lullaby 101". that is just amazing! i seriously cannot get enough of this disc, you guys. you need to put this on your Christmas list NOW before Santa runs out of stock! ~tim ------------------------------ End of little-wings-digest V5 #54 *********************************
